A 12-year-old Klein ISD student is facing one month in an alternative campus as punishment for relieving himself in a water bottle after his teacher refused to let him leave class to use the restroom, according the boy’s attorney.
On Friday, the school principal decided the student should be placed in the district’s Disciplinary Alternative Education Program for one month, Hawkins said.
School officials concluded that the student’s conduct was a Level II offense, described as follows: “Engaging in serious or persistent acts of disobedience or disorderly behavior which may prove detrimental to the school, harmful to health and safety and inhibiting the rights of others.”
Klein ISD police explored filing criminal charges after the investigation was complete, but the Harris County District Attorney’s Office rejected the charge, Hawkins said.
