Girl, 3, is struck and killed by SUV

Amy Collier died in the collision, which happened in a residential area on Legends Estate Drive at East Legends Trail about 4 p.m., according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Troopers said the driver of a 2008 BMW was traveling on Legends Estate Drive and stopped at stop sign at a three-way intersection.

Houston to get warmer as week moves along

Chilly mornings and mild, sunny afternoons are likely in the Houston region for the next few days as high pressure parks above the area.

Gradual warming is expected as the high pressure moves eastward later this week and warm air flows inland from the Gulf of Mexico, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters said light rain may be possible south of Interstate 10 and along the coast.

Buddy Oakes of Hackberry Rod and Gun reported good catches of trout for waders working the flats on slow-sinkers and plastics.

Redfish are good in the deep guts with the low tides.

Redfish action has been good in the Diversion Channel on fresh shrimp and crabs.

MirrOlures, TTF plastics and DOA Shrimp have worked on the flats.

Seas in deep water will be 5-8 feet, decreasing to 3-5 feet by this evening and continuing at this level through Wednesday.
